MY FIRST TABASKI

Yesterday was Eid al-Adha, a Muslim celebration marked by the slaughtering of sheep to symbolize Ibraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to a command from God. Okay, I got this info from Wikipedia and part of it from the Tabaski celebration in Senegal.
Just like every other Muslim ceremony in Dakar, my friends invited me to celebrate with their families. I wanted to go but I have been having this thing where I feel like animals shouldn’t be killed, or just feel like quitting meat. Now, this has nothing to do with Tabaski, but it has everything to do with me failing to honour my invitation.
I have been observing all the mouton around, and they are just so cute and so clean that I just couldn’t imagine eating them. There is no deeper story, but the image never left my mind, and I never left my house to attend the Tabaski invites.
