When you are running away from something; you forget to consider what you are running towards
I have been thinking lately about a recent big decision that I made. This decision just like most of the ones I had made before, gave me an opportunity to run away from a bda situation but I didnt exactly run into a better one.
Consider this, on one ocassion, I went thriftng in a nearby open market in my town. During my errand, a mad man out of nowhere decided to ran after me. As a woman who has been publicly harrased by a crazy person and watched the crown laugh at me as opposed to coming to my aid, I decided to run for my life. I was running away from the man but I wasnt looking at where I was running towards. At some point, I almost run into moving cars in the middle of the road.
Now, if that doesnt bring it home, consider this other time.
I was in the village with my brother and we were grooming some of the plants around my house. I climbed up the tree and my brother handed me the panga, a sharp blade for cutting trees. All of a sudden, a swarm of wasps decided to fly around me as I had interferred with their peace. I threw the panga down and was about to jump on it when my siblings shouted at me to stop acting crazy. I got stung, but if I jumped off the tree and on the panga, I would have probably bled to death.
Now, regarding my decision. Sometimes life forces us to run away from bad things without really knowing what lies ahead. We might end up stuck in a worse situation or spiral around the same cycle over and over.
I would have perhaps made a better decision if my primary goal wasnt to get rid of my situation. If I considred where I’d go after that, I would have been in a better place now.
I know the world is telling you to quit your bad job, to end that bad relationship, to start over and that is absolutely fine. If you can, think of where you are going and plan. Otherwise, in most situations, we never really know what lies ahead; we are just so sure that we hate where we are at. That is fine too!
